Hunters Hill House

Hunters Hill House. A design by interior designer Melanie Tomlinson Design in Sydney.

Hunters Hill House

Our clients years of addiction to American design and designers spurred the inspiration and drive to create a home that pushed the boundaries of anything they had done before both inside and out. They visited America on many occasions falling for the Hampton's and Cape Cod design style and interior designers such as American Jonathan Adler and Australian local Greg Natale. The outcome, a New York glam meets East Coast style. Our expertise were engaged to help rein in all of the ideas and bring their American dream to life. What was intended to be a renovation of a 1930's bungalow quickly became a full knock down and re-build. The main focus was on large mouldings, strong contrast in colour and textures and volume, large free flowing open spaces including the hallway and stair case. The laundry, bathrooms and kitchen all have a selection of beautiful tiles of all sizes, however keeping to the monochrome base palette throughout the home. From Bespoke pieces to Coco Republic to Adairs, this home has it all in terms of styling, it goes to show what you can create with careful planning and a passionate client. The exterior continues to excite with a bespoke fence influenced by a chair design which takes the inside out rather than bring the outside in. Overall this project was full of fun and bold decisions.
